Starting this teaching program, I had never really heard about Chat GPT, however, it is interesting to me how frequently talked about it has been. A lot of teachers at the school I am observing at are embracing AI and trying to teach students how to use it as a useful tool. They are also figuring out how to use it themselves in their teaching and it seems like it can be really helpful for a lot of the heavy work that takes longer than it should. I have played around with Chat GPT a little bit and I found it super useful for finding a basic lesson/unit plan and resources that can be used in teaching. Especially as a new teacher, it can be confusing on where to start, and I think it provided basic ideas and outlines that I could build off of.
Today, I played around with Chat GPT to make a travel itinerary for a road trip starting in Vancouver going to Disneyland, California. I told Chat GPT that I wanted to drive along the coast, that I wanted to go camping and that I had 8 days to get there. I thought this was interesting because I did this exact trip this past summer, so I wanted to compare what Chat GPT gave me with what my friends and I had planned for our trip. I was quite impressed by what Chat GPT came up with and it was pretty similar to what we had planned for ourselves. The only thing that I noticed was that we ended up going to some more unique spots along the way and Chat GPT used places that were more popular.
